Luthardt M. Nebel: If I had wings. PoetryCartoons

Luthardt Nebel, alias Matthias Lehmann, is a railwayman, owner of the "Zum Prellbock" restaurant in Lunzenau and curator of the Prellbock Gallery. He will be showing cartoons by well-known caricaturists who have exhibited with him, telling short stories about each artist and reciting his poems.

MIT LICHT GESCHOSSEN - Exhibition / Vernissage, Information & Entertainment

Corresponding to the period of the First World War from 1914 to 1918, the Schlossbergmuseum/Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz is showing an exhibition until November 2018 as part of the project 14-18 WAR WAS. Shared Memories project, the Schlossberg Museum/Kunstammlungen Chemnitz will be showing one photograph each month from its collection of historical images of the war. Lecture: Dieter Borchmeyer, What is German? A question not only for Germans

Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Dieter Borchmeyer is one of the most renowned German literary scholars and a "big name" not only among experts. The long-standing President of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts, who has been honoured with the Karl Vossler Literature Prize for his 'scientific presentations of literary rank', is also an excellent publicist and knows (like no other) how to convey specialist knowledge to a wide audience in an elegant style. His latest book "Was ist Deutsch? - A Nation's Search for Itself" paints a multifaceted and impressive picture of the German cultural nation.

International Day against Violence against Women

"Till money do us part", reading with Katharina Martin

The fact that women in relationships become impoverished is a social taboo. How a couple organises their financial affairs is generally regarded as a private matter. Many mothers have no income of their own and are financially dependent on their partner. This means that money can easily be used as a tool of power. The Berlin journalist Katharina Martin uses her own biography and analyses reports from those affected to raise awareness of an invisible form of violence that manifests itself in the withdrawal of money, fraud, coercion and moral blackmail.

Russian-Ukrainian Liederkranz with the SLAVICA choir

Russian and Ukrainian sacred and secular songs
Conductor: Ewgeni Pankow.
The Dresden choir Slavica has been in existence for seven years. Most of its members come from the countries of the former Soviet Union and Bulgaria. All singers have a musical education or many years of choral experience. Its programmes offer a cross-section of the vocal music of the countries of origin, away from the usual and well-known programmes of the Cossack or army choirs.

All in the family: The Fingerhut Theatre performs "The Snow Queen".
based on a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen

When the Snow Queen abducts her friend Kai into the realm of ice, Gerda sets off to find him. We accompany Gerda on her adventurous journey, where she encounters a powerful robber mother, a magical flower woman, as well as helpful animals and people. In the end, she arrives at the palace of reflective ice, where Kai is frozen in cold and loneliness. Will Gerda's strength be enough to save Kai? Performed by the Fingerhut Fairytale Theatre from Leipzig.
Ages 6 and up, approx. 75 minutes (with one interval).

Read aloud: On quiet soles... Stories to listen to

read aloud for everyone with keen ears

When you are invited to the event "Auf leisen Sohlen..." in the city library, you have to be very quiet and prick up your ears, because the reading mentors come to visit and read out exciting stories. They take both young and older listeners into colourful fantasy worlds with great pleasure. The literature-loving readers read the latest children's books, classics, "bestsellers" from their own childhood or even texts they have written themselves in the atmospheric reading tent in the children's world.

Admission to the reading sessions is free.
