Satish Man Pati, The Great Himalaya Trail - Lecture in English
Satish Man Pati is a Nepalese mountain guide. He guides mountain enthusiasts from all over the world through the Himalayas, is committed to helping earthquake victims in Nepal and has also been involved in several rescue operations. Satish will talk about his life in Nepal and his work as a mountain guide in words and pictures on this evening.

14-18 WAR WAS / Exhibition project "Shot with light"
Corresponding to the period of the First World War from 1914 to 1918, the Schlossbergmuseum Chemnitz is showing another photograph from its collection of historical images of the war, with expert support from the ENT_Rüstet team.

Reading: Katharina and Aleppo, Thaer Ayoub reads from his new poetry collection
Thaer Ayoub, born in Aleppo in 1989, studied literature and then worked as a teacher and ran a cultural café. After dreaming of freedom and the Syrian revolution, after a time in prison and hopelessness, he fled his homeland to Germany. He lives in Chemnitz, performs with the theatre group Turmbau 62 at Chemnitz University of Technology and is co-editor of the alternative cultural magazine Odra-Mag.

Reading: Bernd Leistner, In the course of time. Splinters of memory
The Leipzig Germanist and writer Bernd Leistner reports on turning points in his life and work as a student, teacher, foreign lecturer, employee at the "National Research and Memorial Centres" in Weimar, the legendary "VEB Goethe" of the GDR, lecturer at the Leipzig Literature Institute, defender of unpopular literature in the East and Goethe connoisseur in the West, visiting professor after the "Wende" and co-acting contemporary witness of the newly installed German Studies in Chemnitz, world traveller now, who in Asia meets admirers of a language culture that he sees increasingly "wasting away" in reunified Germany, where even students are barely able to read or understand the heritage of their forefathers, in a time that he, the member of the German P.E.N. and the Saxon Academy of Arts, is becoming increasingly alien.

Counsellor: Tina Schütze, "Das stille Örtchen. Inside you." - guided meditations
"Das stille Örtchen" is an audio book about mindfulness, meditation and spirituality in everyday life. The author will read from her new book, talk about her own spiritual journey and bring along some practical exercises.
Tina Schütze was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1978. Her first steps into professional life led her to local television in Chemnitz, from there to study journalism in Leipzig and MDR television, and finally on to Berlin.

Lecture and panel discussion: Matthias Platzeck, Russia and Europe
Matthias Platzeck, Chairman of the Board of the Deutsch-Russisches Forum e. V. and former Minister President of the State of Brandenburg, talks about the current situation between Russia and the EU, which is characterised by growing tensions.

Multimedia lecture: Northern Germany
Günter Schneider's lecture leads from the "centre of Germany" on the Weser cycle path via Bodenwerder, past the Porta Westfalica to the Hanseatic city of Bremen. Via Hamburg, with a visit to the new Elbphilharmonie concert hall, the tour continues along the Baltic coast to Stralsund and finally to Germany's largest island, Rügen.

On quiet soles... Stories to listen to
read aloud for anyone with keen ears
Our reading mentors take both young and older listeners into colourful fantasy worlds with great pleasure. They read the latest children's books, classics, "bestsellers" from their own childhood or even texts they have written themselves in the atmospheric reading tent in the children's world.
Admission to the reading sessions is free.
