Homework - pleasure or frustration?
Completing homework is stressful for many families. Either the whole family helps or the child blocks, dawdles and spends so long on the tasks that there is little time left to play. How can such situations be de-stressed? Kinesiology offers a wide range of possibilities, some of which will be explored in the workshop. With a few targeted movements, the brain can be activated so that it is more receptive and focussed. Participants will also look at their own attitude to doing homework. For parents and grandparents who want to support their child in doing their homework efficiently.

Living consciously: Book presentation "Degrowth in motion(s)"
The term "degrowth" comes from the English language and stands for the opposite of "growth", namely the "reduction of growth". It refers to a form of economy and society that aims to achieve a balance between two important goals: the well-being of all on the one hand and the preservation of the ecological basis of life on the other. Many different social and ecological movements, currents and initiatives are now coming together under the heading of "degrowth", each practising new forms of coexistence and sustainable economic activity in their own way.
The presentation of the book "Degrowth in Bewegung(en)" will give you an insight into the diversity of initiatives and their topics. Authors of the book will show which movements there are and what the self-image of the actors is. There will be an opportunity to discuss approaches and backgrounds together.
This event is a cooperation between the educational organisation "weiterdenken" at the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.

Indian Mandala "Ojo de Dios" & Tibet Mandala
"... the self, the wholeness of the personality, which, when everything is in order, is harmonious." (Carl G. Jung on mandala)
Mandalas (in Sanskrit: circle) are circular images that appear in all human cultures. Tibet Mandala and Mandala "Ojo de Dios" (the eye of God) come from different continents, but are woven in a similar way. They are a lucky charm or amulet and are used in meditation and religious rituals. You will learn about the basic connections between the two mandalas. The pattern of the mandala is created by connecting the sticks to the yarn in different ways. The weaving of colourful wool and wooden sticks is a so-called art therapy and promotes inner balance and the ability to concentrate. The pattern is always unique and difficult to repeat. You will learn the basics of making the eight-pointed mandala with a diameter of approx. 40 cm and the Tibetan mandala with an edge length of around 40 cm.

This workshop will discuss why it is often so difficult to let go and how you can recognise and let go of burdens in order to be free for new encounters and experiences.

Unchecked hate - hate speech on the internet
Every third person has been confronted with hate speech on the internet. Rough language, insults and hate speech are particularly widespread on social networks. The phenomenon of hate speech can not only have legal consequences, but also has an impact on the way we interact with each other, on social discourse and our culture of debate. The event addresses the phenomenon of hate speech from different perspectives and offers the opportunity to discuss suitable measures to combat it. Among other things, the following questions will be asked Who is affected by it? How should hate speech be legally categorised between freedom of expression and contempt for humanity? How can an open and democratic culture of communication be strengthened? What strategies are available to us for dealing with hate speech online?
The speaker, Dr Martin Lindner, is a literature and communication scientist as well as a consultant and partner at wissmuth.de. The evening will be moderated by Wolfgang Brinkschulte, journalist and editor at Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk.

Continuity or a turning point? An analysis of Donald Trump's first year in office

Now is the time to take stock: what has Trump emphasised so far? Is he realising his vision of "America first"? Were the fears of foreign policy and economic isolationism justified?
Dr Nicole Renvert, political scientist and Fellow at the German Council on Foreign Relations (Berlin), will be speaking.

Reichsbürger - ridiculed eccentrics or political extremists?
So-called Reichsbürger have existed since the founding of the Federal Republic of Germany, but in recent months they have been attracting more public attention due to their conspicuous behaviour, some of which is relevant under criminal law. Reich citizens, for example, consider the FRG to be an unlawful state, do not recognise any courts or authorities and carry their own "Reich ID cards". In the meantime, the authorities are increasingly observing links to right-wing extremist orientations and groups. According to the judiciary, many acts of violence committed by Reich citizens were based on right-wing extremist ideologies. How dangerous are Reichsbürger really? Are they more likely to be conspiracy theorists or a new form of right-wing extremist group?
The speaker, Dirk Wilking, is a consultant at the Brandenburg Institute for Community Counselling and author of the handbook "Reichsbürger".
This event is a co-operation between the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.

Stretching for everyone
If you don't train your flexibility, you lose it. Stretching can prevent this. Stretching can maintain and even improve functional mobility. Flexibility increases as the muscle's stretch tolerance increases. If we actively involve our opposing muscles when stretching, everyone can improve their everyday quality of life and increase their range of movement. Participants often associate stretching with relaxation exercises, but the opposite is actually the case. Stretching requires the targeted tensing of muscles. All exercises are combined into flowing movement combinations.

Get to know laughter yoga
Laughter yoga is a holistic method that releases endorphins like a "runner's high". It has been proven that laughter yoga reduces stress, helps prevent burnout, alleviates depression, stimulates the cardiovascular system, alleviates pain, boosts the immune system and cleanses and strengthens the respiratory tract. Laughing activates around 100 muscles. All internal organs are massaged. Laughter yoga is similar to aerobics. But the best thing is that you feel something like, yes ... Happiness!
You can join in at any time at your own level, no previous experience is required, just a willingness to laugh. You don't need to have a sense of humour or be in a particularly good mood.
