Is sign language international? A clarification of myths about sign language and deafness

Around 80,000 deaf people live in Germany. In everyday life, deafness as a topic is not very present, many details are largely unknown. The lecture aims to clear up various myths surrounding sign language and deafness. Some questions and prejudices about the topic will be addressed - with the aim that participants will be able to deal with affected people a little more openly and understand their world better after the course.

Salsa Cubana for beginners

Cost: 76 euros
This course is for anyone who has no previous knowledge of salsa. You will learn to feel and understand the rhythm of the music. You will also get to know the salsa beat, practise the combination of basic steps and learn when and how to change them. Further content includes basic figures and how you can combine these figures individually. Great importance is attached to a relaxed learning atmosphere. Beginners with no previous knowledge, couples and individuals are all welcome.

This course gives you an insight into the language of your destination country and gets you looking forward to travelling for business or pleasure. Without a lot of grammar, you will practise authentic phrases for typical situations when travelling: Greetings and farewells, travelling around the country, accommodation, shopping, restaurants and pubs.

The Ayurvedic head and facial treatment has a very calming effect. Tension in the head and neck area can be relieved. This prevents headaches and sleep disorders.

Sunday walk at the grain market
Meeting point: in front of the EINS youth hostel

The tour is intended to shed light on the western part of the city centre between Theaterstraße and Innerer Klosterstraße. The main focus will be on today's EINS youth hostel on Getreidemarkt, which can also be seen inside. The former conversion station for the municipal tram service was built in 1929 according to designs by architect Friedrich Wagner-Poltrock in the New Objectivity style and extensively renovated between 2009 and 2012. In addition to historical aspects, experiences and problems with the refurbishment of the building in line with its listed status will be presented.

Introductory course on autism

Autism is a congenital, incurable, severe perception and information processing disorder of the brain and is considered a profound developmental disorder according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Autism spectrum disorder occurs with a frequency of 6 to 10 per 1000. The course deals with the basics of the autism spectrum, such as terms, categorisation, classification and issues of public perception. It also deals with the consequences and special features of typical perceptual processing in people on the autism spectrum. Last but not least, important aspects of behaviour will be discussed. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the topic.
The lecturer works at the Chemnitz Autism Centre.

The cloud - learning to understand and use it

We are increasingly encountering the cloud in our everyday lives. Whether on our home PC, tablet or smartphone, we are constantly confronted with this enigmatic cloud. In this course, you will learn what is behind the term cloud, which providers there are and how you can use their functions in practice.

Rainer Maria Rilke is considered one of the most important representatives of literary modernism. His texts are the result of the finest observations and reflect moments of life with impressionistic and symbolistic forms. Rilke tells stories in both poetry and prose, sometimes colourful and lively, sometimes tired and melancholy - but always full of depth. The Rilke evening approaches the literary work in two ways: Sophie Böhmchen and Stephan Nobis use spoken word and piano music to translate Rilke's world of thought and invite you to listen, dream and relax.

This time we start in our neighbouring country of Bohemia, take a quick look at our very special English neighbours in Great Britain and hope that we Europeans will still be granted entry, then fly to a former dominion of the British Empire, Canada. We move on, but remain in the Commonwealth and stop off in Australia, then India. Now it's back to Europe, we visit Finland, end our journey in France (with a smoky drum at cask strength) and are very curious to see if Europe still exists ... (7 Drams)
The fee already includes the costs for samples, garnishes and hand material. A tasting glass is not included in the fee, but can be purchased during the course. Experts may bring their own nosing glass (no tumbler please!).
