Zoo tour – Through the twilight with lanterns
Venue: Chemnitz Zoo, Nevoigtstraße 18
Admission: €10 per person; places are limited; booking is required by 13 November via tierpark(at)stadt-chemnitz.de. Tickets can be collected from the zoo ticket office during normal opening hours once your booking has been confirmed. Cancellations are not permitted. Dogs are not permitted.
As the days grow shorter and darkness slowly takes over, we warmly invite you to a special evening guided tour (duration: approx. 90 minutes) through our zoo. To mark St Martin’s Day, we would like to share an atmospheric lantern walk with you and your children – right in the heart of our animals’ fascinating world.
Accompanied by the soft glow of the lanterns you bring with you, we’ll explore the zoo at dusk.
Important: Please bring your own lanterns and use only LED lights or battery-operated candles to ensure the safety of both people and animals.
A special experience for the whole family, combining animal watching and a nature experience in an atmospheric setting. As we’ll be out and about in the zoo at dusk, please do bring torches with you as well.
Sunday, 29 November, 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm
Crafts for the 1st Sunday in Advent – Creative lanterns made from old jars
Venue: Chemnitz Zoo, Nevoigtstraße 18
Admission: The zoo’s standard admission prices apply: Adults €9.50, Concessions €5 (no booking required)
The event is aimed at families, children and anyone who enjoys craft activities and is interested in sustainable design.
To mark the first Sunday of Advent, the Open Zoo School warmly invites you to a creative craft session. Using the decoupage technique, old jars brought along by participants will be transformed into atmospheric lanterns – unique, colourful and perfect for the winter season.
Whether decorated with festive motifs, nature scenes or designed entirely freely: every lantern will be one of a kind and will bring a warm glow to the Advent season.
Why upcycling is important: Upcycling involves transforming materials that would otherwise end up in the bin into something new and useful. This conserves resources, prevents waste and helps protect the environment. Particularly at the zoo, where nature conservation and species protection play a central role, a mindful approach to materials makes a valuable contribution to the preservation of our flora and fauna.
Please bring along: We ask that you bring clean, empty jars (e.g. jam, mustard or gherkin jars) for the craft session. All other materials (napkins, glue, paintbrushes, etc.) will be provided.
