Worlds of nutrition: Healthy nutrition for humans and animals

On 7 March, Chemnitz Zoo, in cooperation with the Office for Health and Prevention, invites you to an eventful afternoon in the zoo school from 1 pm to 4 pm.
Under the title "Ernährungswelten: Healthy nutrition for humans and animals", visitors can expect a varied event centred around the topic of a balanced diet.
To mark the nationwide Healthy Eating Day, which was initiated by the Association for Nutrition and Dietetics, the event will show how exciting, varied and everyday healthy eating can be - for both humans and animals.
The focus is on lovingly designed activity stands with lots of hands-on activities that combine knowledge, fun and exercise. Visitors can not only learn about healthy eating, but also actively experience it: Children design creative bread faces, pedal hard on the smoothie bike and enjoy their homemade smoothie. Health counsellor Wulf Knoblauch from the Office for Health and Prevention will give practical tips on healthy eating and the balanced sandwich box.
The world of animals also comes to life at interactive stands. There will be clear and child-friendly explanations of how different animal species feed, why their teeth are so different and what constitutes a species-appropriate diet. Exciting connections between human and animal nutrition are shown and attention is drawn to the consequences of incorrect feeding. The event is particularly aimed at families and invites them to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of nutrition with curiosity, joy and all their senses.

Women's day at the game reserve

8 March is International Women's Day. Reason enough for the Oberrabenstein Wildlife Park to take a look at women in the animal kingdom. Is the female gender defined solely by their role as a mother? Or are there also female hunters, teachers or queens? And what about equal opportunities in the animal kingdom?
These and other questions will be explored in an informal and relaxed tour (duration: approx. 90 minutes). District manager Mathias Wagner will pay particular attention to the local wildlife. Perhaps you will find a few parallels at the end? However, the tour is not only aimed at women. Men are also welcome to join in.

Together we walk through the zoo, observe young animals and learn exciting facts about the animal world in spring and the changes in nature. Along the way, there are interesting stories, interesting information and room for questions.
Whether you are a nature lover, family or simply curious about spring - this tour offers relaxed moments, fresh air and new perspectives on the zoo. Come along on an atmospheric walk and enjoy spring in all its diversity.

Open zoo school - we make seed bombs
Location: Chemnitz Zoo, Nevoigtstraße 18

Get creative, experience nature and actively do something for the environment: In the open animal park school, we invite young and old to make seed bombs together. Small balls are made from soil, clay and seeds, which can later create flowering habitats for insects.
During the crafting process, participants will playfully learn why flowers are so important for bees and other pollinators and how everyone can make a contribution to nature conservation with simple means. The self-made seed bombs can of course be taken home.
A hands-on programme for families, children and anyone who enjoys nature, creativity and sustainable ideas. Come along, join in and let it bloom colourfully everywhere soon!

Spring is just around the corner - and it's the perfect time to give our zoo a new lease of life!
We cordially invite you to our spring clean at the zoo. Together we want to spruce up the paths and green spaces and create a beautiful, clean environment for our animals and visitors.
Whether it's raking leaves or simply lending a hand where help is needed - every helping hand counts! In addition to working together, the focus is of course also on socialising: nice conversations, fresh air and the good feeling of having done something useful for the zoo.
Thankfully, the zoo's sponsoring organisation has taken care of a little refreshment. Work materials will be provided where available, but you are welcome to bring your own work gloves.
