How can monkeys be kept busy in a meaningful way? What behaviours do they exhibit? And why is occupation so important for animals in the zoo?
In this special holiday offer, we invite you to join us in designing creative activities for our djeladas. After a brief introduction to the behaviour and lifestyle of this fascinating species of monkey, you will learn why enrichment - i.e. targeted activity - plays a central role in animal care.
We then work together to develop small tasks and craft ideas that correspond to the natural abilities and needs of the djeladas.
Finally, we observe together how the animals react to the designed activities - an exciting insight into their intelligence, curiosity and social behaviour.
We look forward to your participation and an exciting encounter with our djeladas!

What do environmental protection and bird feeding have in common? In our open zoo school, we show how a little creativity can turn old teacups into practical feeding stations for garden birds - in the spirit of upcycling.
Instead of throwing away used items, we give them a new lease of life and do something good for wildlife at the same time. While crafting together, you will learn why upcycling is an important contribution to resource conservation: it saves energy, reduces waste and promotes a more conscious use of materials.
Whether young or old - everyone is welcome to get creative, learn about sustainable behaviour and take home a self-designed food cup.
Note: Please bring an old teacup (with handle) that you would like to use for your feeding station. This will make each piece unique and personalised!
