Admission: Visits to the interactive exhibition are free of charge, an admission ticket is required for the permanent and special exhibitions.
The freely accessible area between the Museum of Natural History and the Neue Sächsische Galerie offers many opportunities to approach the history of the earth in a playful way. Puzzles, books and games, as well as original fossils, invite visitors of all ages to explore and stimulate their creativity. In May, a completely new topic will be added with the evolution of proboscideans - elephants, mammoths & co.

Around the fossil of the year 2025 - the shark egg capsule Fayolia sterzeliana - a new exhibition ensemble has been created in the Museum of Natural History, which presents the animals and plants from the Carboniferous of Chemnitz in a bundle for the first time. The spectrum ranges from tall coal-forming trees and the largest arthropod in the history of the earth to the oldest quadruped in Germany, which was found in Chemnitz. Prof Jörg W. Schneider from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg will give an introductory lecture at the opening of the new exhibition ensemble.
