Children's day at the excavation
Location: Window into the history of the earth, Glockenstraße 16
Admission: free
Because one Children's Day is not enough, we want to celebrate "being a child" with you again. With the children's excavation, a show preparation, a great fossil amulet, microscopes and a journey into the past, the day will be a super glitter tattoo affair!
The activities on the excavation are subsidised by the European Social Fund. We are therefore particularly pleased to welcome visitors from the ESF-funded area (city centre, Sonnenberg and Luther district).

Family afternoon: Mixed among the people - life in the bee colony
Location: Museum of Natural History, Insectarium
Admission: adults 4 euros, concessions 2.50 euros, children and young people up to 18 years free
Material costs for candle making: 2 euros
Where beekeeper Heike Janthur appears, everything revolves around bees, honey and beekeeping. How many bees are there in a colony? How many flowers does a bee pollinate per day? How many flowers does it take to make a jar of honey? How do bees communicate with each other? And what's the story behind bee mortality? So many questions: Heike Janthur will answer them all. And if you like, you can make your own beeswax candle and take it home with you as a souvenir of this bee afternoon.

Amethyst is the violet variety of the mineral quartz. Due to its colour, it has been a popular gemstone since ancient times. From the 15th century onwards, the Saxon electors sent gemstone prospectors to find the violet-coloured mineral treasure in the nearby Erzgebirge mountains. Come with us on a journey underground and learn all about the amethysts from the heart of the Ore Mountains.
