Music brings people together and gives hope.
Once again this year, the “Hand in Hand for Premature Babies” charity concert aims to bring hope. On 14 November, the Chemnitz Frühstarter Parents’ Association and the Chemnitz Municipal Music School cordially invite you to this traditional event. The funds raised will go towards supporting families with premature babies.

In the run-up to World Prematurity Day on 15 November, we would like to come together to show our support for the smallest fighters in our society and their families. An early start to life is an exceptionally emotional experience for babies and their parents, one that requires special support and assistance.

Look forward to a varied musical programme featuring musicians from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.

2026 is the Year of the Accordion! To mark the occasion, the Duo Kratschkowski and the Chemnitz Municipal Music School are presenting a varied concert featuring music from the Baroque and Classical periods, tango, international folk music and klezmer.

The accordion is a comparatively young yet extraordinarily versatile instrument. Whether a button or piano-key accordion, small or large, used as a folk instrument or in a version developed for the classical orchestra: its various designs allow it to be used in almost every musical genre.

Although the ‘accordion’ has only existed since the 19th century, numerous significant composers have already written for the instrument – including Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Arnold Schoenberg and Dmitri Shostakovich. Contemporary composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina, Luciano Berio, Adriana Hölszky, Alfred Schnittke and Edison Denisov have also shaped the development of the accordion through their works.

Furthermore, it is at home in jazz, rock and pop, as well as in numerous folk music traditions – from the Balkans and Klezmer through Eastern Europe to Western Europe and South America.
The concert showcases the instrument’s fascinating range of sounds: from catchy melodies to challenging compositions, from delicate musicality to stormy virtuosity. The programme features pupils from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School and the tango ensemble of the Dresden State Grammar School for Music.

Come and be amazed – discover the fascinating world of the accordion!
