It's time to celebrate, because this year Chemnitz is looking back on 25 years of Museum Night! This anniversary year naturally has a special motto - "Let's celebrate!"

"Four women. Four biographies"
Public guided tour

During our public guided tours, you can get to know the exhibition Four Women. Four CVs and its four main protagonists Christine Stephan-Brosch, Evelyn Krull, Gerdi Sippel and May Voigt. The four women are linked by their lives in the GDR and their work as photographers. The exhibition is dedicated to works created up to the political change in 1989 and shows the different perspectives on social and political circumstances.

The exhibition "Sieh dir die Menschen an!" (Look at the people!) is the first to take an in-depth look at the neo-objective portrait of types from the Weimar period (1918-1933) in a historical context. Thinking in terms of human types and themes such as physiognomy and characterology were omnipresent at the time. The exhibition draws a link to the present day and makes it clear that many stereotypes and clichés from back then still have an effect today and influence the way we view others.

Paint like children or just paint away
Workshop
"As a child, everyone is an artist. The difficulty lies in remaining one as an adult" - Pablo Picasso

Children don't worry about whether and how they can paint something perfectly. They enjoy colours and shapes and like to try things out. We invite you to give free rein to your creativity like a child and let off steam while painting. For one afternoon, artist Sara Richter-Höhlich will tease out your imagination with playful exercises. Fun techniques will make you want to paint and awaken the joy of experimentation.

The workshop is primarily aimed at adults. However, children are of course also very welcome to take part in order to inspire their grown-ups and paint themselves.
