We cordially invite you to the public guided tour in English on Saturday, 3 August 2024, at 4 pm at the Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz. The tour will take place in the exhibition Viewing the World.

Family tour of Hanna and the Blue House
Meeting point: at the ticket office of the art collections on Theaterplatz
Cost: admission (children under 18 are free) + 0.50 euros for materials

Together we will explore the Hanna Bekker vom Rath exhibition in a playful way. Afterwards we will create our own small works of art to take home.

Ugliness by Moshtari Hilal (for the exhibition: Look at the people!)
Talk and reading with the artist and author Moshtari Hilal
Admission: 10 euros, reduced 5 euros

Thick body hair, brown teeth, big noses: Moshtari Hilal questions ideas of ugliness. In her book, published in 2023, she writes about beauty salons in Kabul as part of the US invasion, Darwin's theory of evolution, Kim Kardashian and a utopian place in the shadow of the nose. Her explorations, memories and own drawings lead into the innermost realm where every self-image is put to the test. Why are we afraid of the ugly? Poetic and touching, intimate and highly political, the author tells of us all and the norms that define us.

Herbert, Hanni and Anna Esche: 3 anniversaries - a tribute
Lecture evening with music

2024 marks the 150th and 200th birthdays of Herbert Eugen Esche and his grandmother Anna Esche. And Herbert Esche's wife Hanni will also be celebrating an almost milestone birthday at the age of 145. Reason enough to commemorate the three jubilarians with a small tribute and honour their anniversaries with a summer birthday party.
Celebrate with us with coffee and birthday cake, mini-lectures, including one by Ingo Esche, a great-nephew of Herbert Esche, a short guided tour and music with Marion Minkus, a great-grandniece of Herbert Esche. Of course, fine stockings from the Moritz Samuel Esche company will also be on display.
