The neighbourhood round table offers an opportunity for mutual exchange about current events and developments in the neighbourhood and thus serves as a platform for facilities, associations, sponsors, institutions and residents from the Reitbahnviertel. The neighbourhood stakeholders are informed about developments in the area, can ask questions, request support or initiate cooperation with other initiatives.

Literature scholarship from the City of Chemnitz - launch event with scholarship holder Arna Aley

In 2022, the city of Chemnitz has announced a literary scholarship for the first time on 1 October. The first scholarship holder, Arna Aley, is presenting a selection of her literary texts to the public in Chemnitz today.
Arna Aley was born in Panevezys (Lithuania) and studied scenic writing at the University of the Arts in Berlin and violoncello at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius/Lithuania. She worked as an assistant director at the Berliner Ensemble, among others with George Tabori and Claus Peymann. In 2009, she switched to film and headed the directing department for the international multimedia project "DAU" (director: Ilya Khrzhanovsky), worked as head editor and dramaturge for the film and multimedia project "VMayakovsky" (director: Alexander Shein). Since 2016, she has been working as a freelancer for the German Orchestra Association and the Young Ears Network (current project: "Musikfrachter BTHVN 2020"). Arna Aley is a freelance author, journalist, translator and director based in Berlin.

Following the reading, the health counsellor of the city of Chemnitz will prepare extraordinary finger food under the motto "Hangman's Meal".

Lothar Becker reads from his novel and plays his own songs.
Grandfather would actually have preferred to ban stupidity by decree. But his friend Herbert, who slaughters the chickens in the village and, like him, has rather accidentally joined the Communist Party, has a different idea of how to set the world revolution in motion: with a bomb in a ruling class power centre, of course!
After an initial attack on an innocent town hall staircase in the neighbouring town does not quite achieve the desired success, he flees to Vienna with his new girlfriend Else and falls into the clutches of Comrade Schmidt and Comrade Olga, who demand far greater proof of his loyalty to the party. They want him to blow up St Stephen's Cathedral!
Lothar Becker's lovingly grotesque novel is an ironic reckoning with ideologies and world views and the expectations of salvation associated with them.
Lothar Becker, born in 1959, has published numerous stories and novels. Most recently, his novel "Bubble Gum 69", about a childhood in a small East German town, was published by Eulenspiegel Verlag in 2016. In 2006, he was one of the finalists in the MDR literature competition. He also writes and composes musicals. In 2007, he won the nationwide school musical competition with "Elec's Secret". Becker is married, father of two daughters, works as a social pedagogue in open youth work and lives in Limbach-Oberfrohna.

Finnish married. Or: In search of the most Finnish of all words

To mark the 60th anniversary of the Chemnitz-Tampere town twinning, Dieter Hermann Schmitz will read from his humorous novel of the same name.
What do you do when you're on an aeroplane and you're afraid you're about to crash into the Baltic Sea? Of course, you reach for your mobile phone and try to tell your loved ones at home that ... just like you know it from American films. But the Finnish reality is different! While a flippant "I love you!" may help on the other side of the Atlantic, action is needed in the far north. After the traumatic experience of an emergency landing, Hermann, a Finn by choice with Rhenish roots, is determined to make the whole family happy. At the same time, he takes part as a judge in a cultural project to find the most Finnish of all words. The search for the right word is as tricky as the best intentions at home.
In the early 1990s, university lecturer Dieter Hermann Schmitz came to Tampere to teach at the Goethe-Institut as part of a year abroad. He stayed for good. Today, the father of two, who is married to a Finnish woman, works at the University of Tampere and also writes books such as "Die spinnen, die Finnen", which was a source of amusement for many Finland fans in 2011.

We travel back in time and are up close and personal with the invention of football. Find out what the Vikings have to do with it, what role a boy called "Storm" plays in it and how the invention came about in the first place in this book presentation, which, in addition to an exciting story, also offers some hands-on activities on the subject of football. Would you like to control a real robot? Find out what our new addition can do. In the "RoboLab Remote Session", you can programme our NAO robot online and control it remotely from the comfort of your own home.
In a short introduction, we will show you how easy it is to programme the robot. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to test your own programme on our robot. We are excited to see what you can make it do and look forward to trying it out together.
You don't need much to take part. The event takes place online via Zoom and
programming is done via the Internet browser.

3D printing - a constructive manufacturing process - is a buzzword on everyone's lips and is a topic that is not only inspiring industry, but also the centre of our society.
3D printers are more than simple CNC machines. Behind them lies an incredibly large cosmos: whether developments, experiments, repair culture, open source scene or maker movement.
The workshop is designed to give anyone interested a brief insight into this world. In the two hours, an overview of current technologies will be given, which will be illustrated using many interesting examples and an active 3D printer. In addition to providing information about the current possibilities, the event will also provide an incentive to take a closer look at the topic.

After an experiment goes wrong, Benjamin is sent to Hamburg by his father. At first, the young architect finds it difficult to cope so far from home. He is lied to and deceived, but soon meets people he can count on - first and foremost Lucia, who has to steal to ensure her family's survival. She fascinates him, not least because she is so clever. When Benjamin is called back to Amsterdam by his father, she stays behind. But can there be more to their relationship?
With "Gold and Honour", Sabine Weiß writes a historical novel about the construction of the Hamburg Michel in the 17th century. The journalist and author focuses on rather unknown aspects of Hamburg's (architectural) history, Hamburg's close connections to the Netherlands, the many Dutch immigrants in the "Golden Age" and the expertise they brought with them and their influence on architecture.

Make poltergeisty ghosts, scare yourselves with dark stories or dress up to look particularly spooky for the Halloween photo. As a special highlight, our spooky tent awaits your visit.
To make sure your tummies don't growl as well as the ghosts, the City of Chemnitz Health Department will provide us with spooky snacks.
