How consumers get their rights

Consumers are not always satisfied customers after a purchase. Sometimes defects or damage are discovered that make a complaint necessary. Special attention should be paid to telephone purchases and door-to-door sales. If you inform yourself in good time, you can act competently as a customer and avoid annoyance and additional costs. The course will provide you with important information on these topics relating to consumer rights.

Successful communication in everyday life

Every day we pass on a wide range of information to other people, both orally and in writing. The quality of our language is often neglected. Gain a new perspective on language in this course. Even small changes in vocabulary, grammar and sentence intonation can have a big impact. Discover how communication can be easier.
The course is based on elements from the LINGVA ETERNA language and communication concept. Examples from the participants' everyday lives will be applied using the concept.

Confident writing and maths - How can my child do it?

It seems that many children today are affected by reading and spelling disorders (LRS) or dyscalculia. Is that really the case? Many children and parents know that maths is a pain and the German exercise book is full of red error notes from the teacher. But do all these children have dyslexia or dyscalculia? If not, what is the cause and what can help? What do confident spellers and calculators do differently to creative spellers and creative calculators?
In this course, you will find out how the NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) approach can make reading, writing and arithmetic more successful (again) and thus ensure learning pleasure instead of learning frustration.

The discussion about the Immigration Act

The globalised world we live in is not open to everyone. In Germany, the debate about an immigration law flares up again and again. Refugees, asylum and immigration are often confused. An immigration law explicitly regulates immigration. It is not about protecting refugees, but about planning the country's population and demographics. Important differences need to be clarified here.
In their coalition agreement, the CDU/CSU and SPD have decided to draft a law to "control immigration into the labour market". In doing so, the coalition wants to counteract the impending shortage of skilled labour. There have been calls for a clear immigration law for many years. Many are calling for a points system based on the Canadian model. This provides for a minimum number of points for successful immigration. But is such a system even transferable to Germany? What would be the advantages and disadvantages of an immigration law?
These and other questions will be discussed at the event with Susann Rüthrich (Member of the German Bundestag) and Roland Preuß (journalist at the Süddeutsche Zeitung).

Are you learning a foreign language and want to speak it? Take the opportunity to test how well you can already do it. Forget grammar gaps and let the words just flow. On this evening there will be discussion rounds for English and German sign language.

Forced labour under the swastika in Chemnitz
Venue: TIETZ, event hall
Admission: free
Between 1939 and 1945, forced labourers and prisoners of war were deployed in Chemnitz, mainly to work for the German armaments industry. The event will present the latest research findings on the crimes committed by the National Socialists at the end of the war in Chemnitz and the slave labour of concentration camp prisoners. It will also show how people from occupied countries were forced to perform forced labour. This will be supplemented with summarised research results from a project of the "Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz".
The event is a cooperation between the civic initiative "Historischer Atlas Sachsen 1933 - 1945", the VVN-BdA Chemnitz and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
