Medicinal plants and spices in Advent

Doughnuts from the Christmas market, a schnapps in honour, the goose too fat, one more biscuit to go! During Advent, our bodies are under a lot of strain and work at full speed. Christmas digestive aids are now indispensable. Surrounded by Christmas scents and treats, you will learn lots of interesting facts about suitable spices and medicinal plants in an interesting lecture.

Volunteering forum: Successful board work and board changes
Location: TIETZ, Room 4.07
Admission: free
Associations play an important role in retaining and activating civic involvement. However, they face major challenges, because although every second German is a member of an association, associations are finding it increasingly difficult to fill voluntary management positions. Volunteers' time resources are limited, but tasks and expectations are becoming more complex and diverse. In addition, board members are often appointed at random. There is a lack of strategic goals, clear division of tasks and continuous promotion of young talent. The course shows how board work can be reorganised under the changed framework conditions. It uses practical examples to explain how board changes and work can be sustainably planned and successfully implemented.
This event is a co-operation between the Chemnitz Community Foundation and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.

Language development in children
Location: TIETZ, Room 4.07
The course will provide a brief overview of the most important stages of a child's language development. What are important developmental steps? Which language problems occur frequently? What opportunities are there for language support in everyday life, daycare centres and after-school care? You will receive valuable suggestions and tips on the topic of children's language development. The lecturer is deputy chairwoman of the Saxony Dyslexia and Dyscalculia Association.

Better texting: Beginning and end
Location: TIETZ, course room 5.38
In this practical seminar, you will look at the two poles of a story: the beginning and the end. The first sentence is the most important in a book. It decides whether the reader continues reading a book or not. But what makes a skilful first sentence? And how do I create an exciting ending? Course content includes effective ways to start a story, the interplay between the opening sentence and the first paragraph, what makes the first page special, open and closed endings. Inspiring examples show the variety of possibilities and invite literary experiments.

Origami - Japanese paper folding art
Location: TIETZ, course room 4.12
What is origami? Origami is the art of paper folding from Japan. "Ori" is derived from the Japanese word "Oru". "Oru" means to fold. "Gami" is derived from "Kami" and means paper. In this course we will make a work of art, e.g. a crane, a throwing knife, a balloon or a flower out of paper. From 8 years.

Magical jams with salt dough handicrafts as a gift set
Location: TIETZ, course room 5.22
In this course we will make delicious jam and fill it into cute jars. We will then decorate and wrap the jars. Homemade name tags, boxes, bows and glitter will of course be included.
This course is suitable for adults and children aged eight and over accompanied by an adult.
