Corresponding to the period of the First World War from 1914 to 1918, the Schlossbergmuseum Chemnitz is showing another photograph from its collection of historical images of the war, with expert support from the ENT_Rüstet team.

Isn't that all absurd? Of course it is! And if it wasn't, then it should have been!
The stories of Magdeburg author and MDR editor Stephan Schulz are full of surprises and sparkle with pitch-black humour. He talks about his childhood and youth in the GDR from the only perspective he can - the small-town perspective.

Mathias Lindner, curator of the exhibition zee.3.7.1, and librarian Sabine Schumann will guide you through the exhibition. Experience many fascinating facets of typography through selected prints and objects from the Middle Ages to the typographically rich 20th century. How typography can achieve power and effect through careful selection of typefaces is demonstrated by the earliest medieval prints using Gutenberg's process, so-called incunabula, Chemnitz occasional typefaces, stonemasonry, the lettering behind the Karl Marx Monument and current works by Chemnitz design studios.
Typographic tests and games invite visitors to try them out.

Helping on the ground - Dr Ines Weckert-Nebel talks about an aid project in Uganda
Lecture on the exhibition "Welcome to Europe - EU policy jeopardises human lives".

Over the past few years, Chemnitz-based general practitioner Ines Weckert-Nebel has travelled to Uganda twice with friends to work on a medical project in the town of Mbale. For example, she helped to set up a doctor's surgery and treated patients free of charge. On her second trip last year, she travelled to the rural area around Mbale with Ugandan nurses and doctors, medical equipment, medicines and water and provided medical aid in various villages. Volunteer work and donations have made it possible to support people and projects that need help the most. Ines Weckert-Nebel will talk about her experiences and reflections and invites you to discuss the possibilities and limits of development aid.

Living Library - Living Books in Chemnitz City Library
Location: Central Library in the TIETZ, Science & Technology section
Admission: free
The "Living Library" works like a traditional library: readers borrow a medium, spend a certain amount of time with it and then return it. However, the media in the "Living Library" are not books, but people. On the occasion of the Intercultural Week, Chemnitz residents with a migration background will be on hand as "living books" to talk about their lives and experiences in our city.

Exhibition: zee.3.7.1 - Typography in Chemnitz since 1466
Location: TIETZ, Neue Sächsische Galerie
Printed type has existed in and from the city of Chemnitz since the invention of letterpress printing. Beginning with the valuable early prints in the library, the objects lead up to the typographically rich 20th century: Ost-Rubbel letters, stonemasonry, lead typesetting, the lettering behind the Nischel and current works by Chemnitz design studios. These objects are embedded in a rich cultural-historical presentation of Latin letters and the history of writing with numerous opportunities for visitors to explore the vast realm of writing in typographic tests and games.
A joint exhibition project organised by Chemnitz City Library and the Neue Sächsische Galerie to mark the city's 875th anniversary.

Photo exhibition "Welcome to Europe - EU policy endangers human lives"
Location: Central Library in the TIETZ, Science & Technology section
Admission: free
Despite restrictive immigration regulations, migrants repeatedly risk their lives to reach Europe in search of refuge, protection and better living conditions. The regulations force people to take ever greater risks, which have a negative impact on their physical and mental health. Since 2000, Médecins Sans Frontières has been providing emergency medical aid for these people, including programmes in Malta, Italy and Greece. The 24 motifs in the exhibition are taken from various humanitarian aid projects run by Médecins Sans Frontières and tell of the migrants' fear during their flight and the inhumane living conditions they find on arrival instead of protection.

read aloud for everyone with keen ears
Our reading mentors take both young and older listeners into colourful fantasy worlds with great pleasure. They read the latest children's books, classics, "bestsellers" from their own childhood or even texts they have written themselves in the atmospheric reading tent in the children's world.
Admission to the reading sessions is free.
