The city library has a large number of digital media (e-books, electronic audio books, magazines, etc.). Senior citizens in particular can benefit from using them. However, sometimes there is an inhibition threshold or people simply don't dare to use the new technology. It's really easy to familiarise yourself with the digital world. Tablet PCs, which we provide free of charge for our three-part workshop, are ideal for this.

Puppet theatre with Jörg Bretschneider for all little scaredy-cats aged 4 and over. Like every morning, Grandma brings her little scaredy-cat to school and explains to him how dangerous life is. A dog can bite, you can drown in water and a robber wants your last carrot. Suddenly the fox sneaks around Hasenhausen. The rabbit children flee into a cave. Little Uli leaves the safety of the cave to save his teddy bear. All the rabbits tremble with fear, but suddenly the little scaredy-cat becomes terribly brave... !

"I think I've always led a double life, one as a poet and one as a journalist," said Stefan Heym about himself. His speeches, essays and interviews are reflections of a life in dramatic times. Heym spoke and wrote as he lived: fearlessly non-conformist, brash, irreverent, not shying away from pathos, spiritedly demanding change, not mincing his words, and taking care of his dignity. His political "everyday literature" still seems astonishingly topical today. As an editor and friend of Stefan Heym, Heinfried Henniger has edited several selected volumes of Heym's journalism since the 1980s.
A joint event organised by the International Stefan Heym Society and the City of Chemnitz Cultural Centre.

The afternoon with do-it-yourself activities for the whole family offers inspiration to create beautiful things yourself. At the Makerspace, you can learn about 3D printing technology, print textiles offline, bring colouring pictures to life with a tablet app and try out technical craft kits and soldering kits. The Paperspace is all about books, paper and writing. We make pop-up cards, Christmas and origami jewellery and there is a writing and lettering workshop (hand lettering).

Stefan Heym's extensive literary and essayistic work has been an integral part of academic teaching at Chemnitz University of Technology for many years. The aim is not only to familiarise students with Heym's work, but also to encourage them to carry out independent, active research. Conversely, the young researchers are keen to share their findings with the people of Chemnitz. From fools in Heym's literary work to his self-image as a poet - presented in a generally understandable, lively and entertaining way, they want to enter into dialogue with anyone who is interested in Heym.
