"Nothing that happens to us" - reading with Bettina Wilpert
Venue: Central Library in the TIETZ

Leipzig. Summer. University, football World Cup and people's kitchen. Good friends. A birthday party. Anna says she was raped. Jonas says it was consensual sex. Testimony against testimony. After two months close to despair, Anna finally reports Jonas, but the word "false accusation" soon hangs in the air among her friends. Jonas' and Anna's credibility and their friendships are jeopardised. The novel explores the impact of rape on victims, perpetrators and those around them and how society deals with sexual violence.

Makerspace meets Paperspace - creative afternoon for young and old
Venue: TIETZ, Central Library
Admission: free
The afternoon of do-it-yourself activities for the whole family offers inspiration to create beautiful things yourself. At the Makerspace, you can learn about 3D printing technology, try out technical craft kits and soldering kits and repair broken items and devices yourself. The Paperspace is all about books, paper and pixels.
For the first time, this series will focus on new digital reading formats for children. We will explore the world of multimedia picture book apps and provide tips and suggestions for digital and analogue reading sessions.
For children, we are opening our brand new story workshop. Here, imaginative young authors (aged 8 and over) can think up and create their own picture stories on a tablet.
Our small bookbinding workshop and the medieval writing room are completely analogue and classic.
Of course, there will also be plenty of opportunities to let your creativity run wild with crafts and painting.

14-18 WAR WAS | Exhibition project "Shot with light"

Corresponding to the period of the First World War from 1914 to 1918, the Schlossbergmuseum Chemnitz is showing another photograph from its collection of historical images of the war, with expert support from the ENT_Rüstet team.

Opening of the exhibition "Wind of Change - The GDR and the year 1968"
Lecture with the historian Alexander Walther, Jena
Location: TIETZ, Central Library, Science & Technology section
1968 was a year of upheaval and protests. The international youth rebelled against the prevailing conditions. While 1968 is primarily associated with "youth revolt" in West Germany, in the former GDR the year is associated with the "Prague Spring" and its violent suppression.
The travelling exhibition of the Martin Luther King Centre Werdau is dedicated to these global events and focuses on the "GDR and the year 1968".

The best thing about Tilli's school is the school café "Pustekuchen". This is where Tilli's grandma Moma bakes her legendary muffins and helps with all kinds of disasters. But suddenly the school café is on the brink of closure. Now everyone has to stick together and come up with a rescue plan.

42 VIEWS ON WAITING FOR THE RIVER - Reading with Barbara Köhler

In 2016, Barbara Köhler moved to Castrop-Rauxel for two months to the inhabitable sculpture "Waiting for the River" to wait for the Emscher, which had not flowed past for years. Their waiting resulted in a book that speaks of deindustrialisation and renaturation, of the local wasteland and a dead river, its history and stories, of realities and utopias.

"Die Söhne der Großen Bärin" is a series of Native American novels by Liselotte Welskopf-Henrich, which was particularly successful in the GDR and still has many fans today. In 1966, DEFA made the equally successful film "The Sons of the Great Bear" with Gojko Mitic in the leading role as Chief Tokei-ihto under the same title as the novel cycle. Gojko Mitić talks about his time as DEFA's "Chief Indian". Dr Frank Elstner from Palisander Verlag talks about the life of Liselotte Welskopf-Henrich. Moderator: Michael Kraus

Fairy tales build bridges

Chemnitz amateur theatre groups perform and read fairy tales from all over the world in different languages. Fairy tales can be found in all cultures. Listening to a fairy tale also means sharing time and values. With this fairy tale day, we want to create the opportunity for all people, regardless of their origin, to engage in a relaxed exchange through storytelling.

Once upon a time by the river - concert with Valeriya Shishkova and EXPROMT

With their traditional Russian instruments - domra, balalaika, bayan and contrabass-balalaika - the four members of the group EXPROMPT conjure up a virtuoso ensemble performance full of solo highlights that is second to none. Russian composers are heard as well as tangos by Piazzolla, swing by Django Reinhardt or pieces by Mozart or Rossini. The ensemble performs together with the Dresden-based Russian-Jewish singer Valeriya Shishkova.

read aloud for everyone with pricked ears
Our reading mentors take both young and older listeners into colourful fantasy worlds with great pleasure. They read the latest children's books, classics, "bestsellers" from their own childhood or even texts they have written themselves in the atmospheric reading tent in the children's world.
Admission to the reading sessions is free.
