The problem is us: A mayor in Saxony fights for democracy
Book presentation and discussion with Dirk Neubauer

TIETZ, Central Library, Event Hall
Admission: 5 euros, reduced 3 euros

We have forgotten how society works - and not just in East Germany. So says Dirk Neubauer, mayor of the small Saxon town of Augustusburg since 2013. What he found in the town after his election was a lack of transparency, disenchantment with politics and a feeling of being lost. Neubauer is convinced that - contrary to popular opinion - the political system can be changed from within and that we can learn again what it means to take personal responsibility instead of handing it over to the state. His projects for Augustusburg, which focus on citizen participation, show this: Citizen involvement, which used to receive little attention, is growing slowly but steadily.

Advance booking: Museum box office in the TIETZ (1st floor), Tel.: 0371 488 4366
