The Chemnitz fairy tale competition enters its sixth round! Jury member and editor Marcus Lehmann will be available for a fairy tale consultation. Anyone can bring along their own Chemnitz fairy tale, regardless of whether it is still a small, fine idea or already a finished story.
Both young authors aged 10 and over and adult fairy tale writers are invited. Feedback and inspiration are provided free of charge.
Participation in the fairy tale competition is open until 15 March 2026.

Photo exhibition VIP² - [Very Infectious Period; Very Important People]

The exhibition shows a selection of Manuela Haeussler's work and includes portrait photographs from the years 2019 to 2025, centred around a special project entitled "Around the world in 80 days - 2021", which shows photography during the pandemic. On the one hand, it provides an insight into how a photographer dealt with the restrictions and challenges of the time and, on the other, snapshots from the lives of some people and musicians around the world.

In 2026, the Free State of Saxony is celebrating the theme year "Tacheles - Jüdisch. Saxon. Mentshlich.", one hundred years after the founding of the first state association of Jewish communities. The aim is to make Jewish life visible in its historical depth, cultural diversity and present-day social relevance.
The city library offers its visitors a wide range of media tips from its holdings on the topics of history and politics, religion, language, literature, art as well as children's and youth literature.

The lovingly packed surprise packs contain two secret books and little surprises. Only the theme gives a hint as to what the stories are about. The Reading Wonder Bags can be borrowed by all holiday children of primary school age with a library card.
