Event series 2018: 875 years of history in twelve months

In 2018, the city of Chemnitz is celebrating its 875th anniversary. More than 100 events have already been organised to mark the occasion. A joint project by the Chemnitz History Society, the Chemnitz Saxon Industrial Museum, the Schloßberg Museum, the Chemnitz State Museum of Archaeology and the Chemnitz City Archive entitled "875 years of history in twelve months" is also honouring the city's history.
To introduce the joint project, the individual events and the protagonists, a press conference will be held next Monday, 8 January 2018, 10.30 am at the Chemnitz City Archive. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend. The following people will be available for discussion:

In more than 20 individual events of various formats at different locations, such as lectures, city tours and round-table discussions, experts will provide insights into the city's history. The joint project kicks off on Wednesday, 10 January with the lecture "1143 or 1165? The city anniversary of Chemnitz" by the former head of the city archive Gabriele Viertel. The event starts at 6 p.m. in the Chemnitz City Archive, Aue 16, and is free of charge. The project is sponsored by Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (CWE).
