1983: Protestant theologian and civil rights activist Friedrich Schorlemmer symbolically forges a sword into a ploughshare and plays a key role in shaping the independent peace movement in the GDR. "I will never forget the motivation and inspiration that came from Stefan Heym, Christa Wolf, Günter de Bruyn and Franz Fühmann in the days of the independent church peace movement from 1980 onwards," he says.
Two great thinkers, two speakers at the rally on Alexanderplatz on 4 November 1989, two "meddlers" who could not remain silent. But this was not the first time the two had met.
This evening follows in their footsteps into the 1990s.
