The Renaissance scholar Georgius Agricola and mining in the Ore Mountains
Lecture as part of the event series "875 History in twelve months"
Mining in the Ore Mountains and Georgius Agricola are closely linked in that the world-famous scholar, who lived within the walls of our town for 25 years, not only worked as mayor, but also wrote his most important works on mining and metallurgy here.
Prof. Dr Dr Friedrich Naumann, a proven expert on Agricola, will give a richly illustrated lecture on his life and work and also introduce you to the special features and secrets of mining in the Ore Mountains.
At the same time, the carillon will sound, played by Dr Sebastian Liebold.

The event series "875 History in twelve months" began in January to mark the city's anniversary, a joint project of the Chemnitz History Society, the Chemnitz Saxon Industrial Museum, the Schloßberg Museum, the State Museum of Archaeology and the Chemnitz City Archive. Supported by the CWE.
