Evaluation of the public participation on playgrounds is available

The third participatory process in the participatory budgeting programme took place in November 2013 with the public participation on the 111 public playgrounds. The evaluation of the discussion, in which more than 600 citizens took part with 800 comments and 3,300 ratings, is now available and includes a summary of the comments and votes per playground and urban area.

The summary of the participation process can be viewed on the platform buergerhaushalt.chemnitz.de. The results will be submitted to the City Council as an information document for the meeting on 12 February 2014 and will be discussed in advance by the Youth Welfare Committee, the Planning, Building and Environment Committee and the Administration and Finance Committee.

The Parks Department has received valuable feedback from the actual users of the playgrounds through the discussion and will develop the playground concept based on this and the results of the consultation with the City Council and its committees and present it for a resolution in May.

Around 60,000 euros are currently available annually for the maintenance of the playgrounds, with a further 200,000 euros for investment in the renovation or construction of new facilities. Seven employees from the Parks Department are involved in the maintenance of playgrounds.

The concept is intended to describe which playgrounds can be operated with these funds up to the year 2025 and how attractive they will be. The last such concept was developed in 2003.

The winners of the accompanying competition were selected and informed in December. A Chemnitz school class is looking forward to the experience tour of the fire brigade, the signed CFC football went to a Chemnitz family and the free tickets for the NINERS were raffled off to the Substanz children's and youth centre.
