From today until Monday, 30 September, the European Week of Sport with its Chemnitz ambassadors, the Floor Fighters Chemnitz, is encouraging more exercise and sporting activity in Chemnitz under the motto #BeActive.

This year's action week is once again filled with numerous free activities. The CPSV offers various activities for every age group, e.g. those interested can look forward to senior sports, gymnastics, fencing, judo or Asian weaponry, but standard sports such as handball, volleyball, football or weight training can also be tried out in a taster session during this week. Other highlights include a football biathlon organised by the AWO fan project, family bouldering organised by the Kappelino children's and family centre and a sporting scavenger hunt through the centre and the Sonnenberg district, organised by Salute e. V. Hood Training. Hiking enthusiasts can also look forward to one or two events: in addition to a family hike to Augustusburg Castle followed by a visit to the museum, there will be two active hikes in the Zeisig and Küchwald forests on 28 and 29 September.

The European Week of Sport is not only intended to be a platform for all participants to try out different sports, but also to strengthen the community and social cohesion. Joint sporting activities strengthen togetherness and enable new contacts and friendships to be made. Ultimately, it's about being active and getting moving together.

The EU Office of the City of Chemnitz has organised a varied programme together with many partners:
