European transport experts visit Chemnitz model

Around 30 transport experts from major European cities are expected to visit Chemnitz on Tuesday (11 September). The visit is connected to the Central Europe project Railway Hub Cities and TEN-T network (RAILHUC - see flyer in the appendix), which is being held in Dresden from 11 to 13 September 2012. The Chemnitz model will be presented in Chemnitz as an excellent example of the optimal linking of urban, regional and interregional transport.

The experts expected in Chemnitz represent the twelve RAILHUC project partners. Among others, responsible employees from the local authorities of the Emilia-Romagna region, Venice, Chemnitz's twin city Ljubljana, Brno and Vienna are expected. They will arrive in Chemnitz on the 10 a.m. IRE from Dresden and return to the state capital on the 12 noon IRE after the visit.

The Managing Director of City-Bahn, Uwe Leonhardt, will explain the Chemnitz model to the guests and invite them to take a tour of the Chemnitz - Stollberg pilot line on the modern low-floor railway. Mathias Korda, Head of the Transport Department at Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen, will present the conversion of Chemnitz Central Station into a link between the railway and tram networks.
Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend the event.
