The EU Office of the City of Chemnitz and the Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS) have prepared a varied programme for the European Mobility Week, which is being held in Chemnitz and the surrounding area from 16 to 22 September 2013 under the motto "Clean air - it's your turn!". The Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS) is playing a major role in the preparation and organisation of the European Mobility Week 2013, realising the aims of the Mobility Week in an environmentally friendly manner with its corporate profile.

Citizens are cordially invited to participate in the European Mobility Week 2013 - here is a look at what is on offer: On a discovery tour through Chemnitz and the surrounding area, take the train to go hiking or cycling, design buses out of cardboard and everyone can also get active in the workshop for electromobility. In order to encourage children and young people in particular to use sustainable means of transport, the VMS invites Chemnitz daycare centres and schools to take part in discovery tours specially adapted to the age groups, including a scavenger hunt through the city centre, to Klaffenbach moated castle, Wildeck Castle or the Augustusburg cable car. Young people can enjoy a "moving film experience" in the town council chamber, which has been transformed into a cinema.

The action week will kick off with the "Electromobility in urban areas" workshop organised by the city's environmental department and C & E Consulting und Engineering GmbH on concepts and solutions for the practical use of electromobility, both for private use and for public transport.

At the Mobility Day on Friday, 20 September from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Neumarkt at Chemnitz Town Hall, the challenges of old age will be brought to life with a gerontological test suit and the effects on mobility behaviour will be demonstrated directly on the bus. Other offers on Mobility Day include mobility training by CVAG, a bicycle auction (1 p.m.) by the City of Chemnitz lost property office and an invitation to a barrier-free city centre tour for people with limited mobility, accompanied by a sign language interpreter if required. Also on Friday, 20 September, those interested can take a barrier-free excursion to Wiesenbad.

This year's "vital & mobile" family bike tour will take place on Sunday, 15 September , marking the start of European Mobility Week 2013 in a very special way with the traditional bike tour.

Programme: The detailed programme of the European Mobility Week from 16 to 22 September in Chemnitz and the surrounding area (attached) is also available as a printed flyer, e.g. in the information desks of the city of Chemnitz, at the CVAG and the VMS.
