European Capital of Culture 2025: Saxony agrees to funding
Statement by Lord Mayor Sven Schulze
The City of Chemnitz welcomes today's decisions by the Saxon state government in favour of the European Capital of Culture 2025.
Lord Mayor Sven Schulze: "The cabinet's decisions on the funding agreement give us security and reliability for our plans and this is a great signal of support on the way to becoming the European Capital of Culture 2025. We are also pleased that the state government has appointed a high-ranking contact person for the Capital of Culture with the appointment of State Secretary Thomas Popp in the State Chancellery."
Minister of State for Culture Monika Grütters, Minister-President Michael Kretschmer and Lord Mayor Sven Schulze will sign the funding agreement at a meeting in Chemnitz next week.
