Election notifications delivered by 4 May - postal voting begins
Voting notifications for the European and local elections on 26 May 2019 will be sent to all eligible voters by 4 May.
Every eligible voter will also receive application documents for a possible postal vote in advance with the election notification. Alternatively, the online ballot paper application can also be used for this purpose.
Once the application has been submitted, the person entitled to vote will then be sent a polling card and the postal voting documents.
Postal voting is possible free of charge by Deutsche Post AG to the printed address. The complete postal ballot must be received by the City of Chemnitz postal voting office by 6 p.m. on 26 May 2019 at the latest.
Postal voting office open from Monday, 6 May
The postal voting office in the town hall, Markt 1, will be open from Monday, 6 May.
It will also be possible to vote by absentee ballot before election day.
Opening hours:
- Monday and Wednesday 8.30 am to 4 pm,
- Tuesday and Thursday 8.30 am to 6 pm,
- Friday8.30 a.m. to 12 noon,
- Friday, 24 May 8.30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In order to vote immediately, it is essential that you bring your polling card application form (back of the election notification) and your identity card or passport.
passport must be brought along. The voter will then receive the polling card and postal voting documents and can also vote immediately on site at the postal voting centre.
European and local elections on 26 May 2019
For the European and local elections on 26 May 2019, every eligible voter will receive two polling cards, one for the European elections and one (joint) polling card for all local elections (city council elections, local council elections).
A polling card also entitles the holder to visit a polling station to vote on 26 May 2019.
Polling cards for the European elections are valid in every polling station in the city of Chemnitz.
Polling cards that are only valid for the city council election are only valid in the constituency for which they were issued (is printed on the polling card).
Polling cards for city council and local council elections are valid in the polling stations within the respective locality.
