European and local elections in Chemnitz

Presentation of the election results in Chemnitz on Sunday evening in the town hall - publication of the provisional election results on www.chemnitz.de

European and local elections will be held in Chemnitz on Sunday, 26 May 2019. Around 198,000 Chemnitz residents are called upon to cast their votes to help decide the future of Europe and the future of Chemnitz. Around 20,000 Chemnitz residents from eight districts will also elect their local councillors. The polling stations in the 143 electoral districts of Chemnitz will close at 6 pm on Sunday. Counting of the votes will then begin.

Please note: In the electoral districts, the votes from the European elections will be counted first and sent to the electoral authority. Only then will the counting of votes for the city council election begin. The votes for the local council elections are then counted.

The public presentation of the provisional election results for these elections will also take place as usual from 6 pm in the City Council Chamber of Chemnitz Town Hall (Markt 1). At the same time, the provisional election results will be published at www.chemnitz.de.

The presentation and publication will begin with the election results of the European elections in Chemnitz, followed by the election results of the city council elections in Chemnitz and then the election results of the local council elections in Chemnitz.

Postal voting and instant voting: So far, around 25,200 Chemnitz residents have already taken advantage of the option of postal voting or instant voting before 26 May 2019 in the 2019 European and local elections (postal voting documents applied for), of which 8,500 applied for voting documents online.

Public meeting of the City Election Committee: The City Election Committee for the European elections will meet on 31 May 2019 at 10 a.m., the City Election Committee for the local elections will meet at 11 a.m. in Chemnitz City Hall, Markt 1, in consultation room 118 for a public meeting to determine and establish the final results of the European Parliament elections, the city council elections and the local council elections on 26 May 2019. The meeting is open to the public.
