Europe-wide Neighbours' Day in Chemnitz

Small and large neighbourhood festivals in the districts on 20 May

On Friday, 20 May, Chemnitz, like everywhere else in Europe, will once again be hosting several events to mark Neighbours' Day in the spirit of living together in solidarity. The aim is to enable residents from different neighbourhoods to get to know each other better and live together instead of side by side. The focus is also on understanding between neighbours of different nationalities.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. , Chemnitz city centre district management invites you to the cleaning parade in the Reitbahnviertel. Volunteers and local associations will clean together to beautify the neighbourhood. Afterwards, all participants will be rewarded with refreshments. The EU office will be there with the city's cargo bike and, together with the mascots Edgar and Edda, will help to give a preview of European Mobility Week. The focus is on the Park of the Victims of Fascism and the "Avenue of Light". The meeting point for the event is the inner courtyard of the ASB residential centre, Rembrandtstraße 15.

From 11 am to 4 pm , the solaris Förderzentrum für Jugend und Umwelt gGmbH invites you to a spring brunch at the Mehrgenerationenhaus Chemnitz, Irkutsker Straße 15. A large table will be set up to celebrate in a relaxed atmosphere. All guests are invited to contribute something: food, drinks, music, singing or dancing. The theme of this year's party is #StandWithUkraine. Pre-registration for participation is required by telephone on 0371 3685872 or by email to solaris-treff(at)solaris-fzu.de.

From 3 to 4.30 pm, Stadthalten Chemnitz e. V. invites you to a relaxed get-together with coffee and cake under the motto "Team Kulturhauptstraße Sonnenstraße" at the Bürgerzentrum, Sonnenstraße 35. The main aim is to discuss how Sonnenstraße can be embellished as the cultural capital of Chemnitz.

From 3 to 6 pm, the "Unser Knappteich" project will be offering boat trips and other small activities at Chemnitz Knappteich, Fürstenstraße 147. If you have any questions or are interested in supporting the activities, please email info(at)knappteich.de.

Outlook:

On Saturday 28 May, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., the allotment garden association Vereinte Kraft e. V. invites allotment garden owners of different nationalities to a general garden party. The garden party will be held in the clubhouse and the neighbouring gardens on Reinecker Straße. The EU office is supporting the event. Ukrainian refugees are cordially invited to the festival.
