Europe Week 2014: Reception for guests from European countries at Chemnitz Town Hall

During this year's 20th Europe Week (3 to 11 May), the EU Coordinator of the City of Chemnitz, Pia Sachs, will also be welcoming guests from various European Union countries who are taking part in projects in Chemnitz on two days - representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend.

For example, 16 guests from Great Britain, Romania, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Spain, Germany and Turkey are expected to attend a presentation on Chemnitz and the city's European work on Monday, 5 May at 5 p.m. in the City Council Chamber in the Town Hall at Markt 1.The European guests are taking part in a project of the Deutsches SPIELEmuseum e. V., funded by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme. During their one-week stay in Chemnitz, the project participants will be working on an action guide for the various aspects of literacy and basic education for adults. The visit to Chemnitz town hall marks the start of their busy week focussing on the targeted use of games as a medium.

On Tuesday, 6. EU Coordinator Pia Sachs will welcome four Spanish teachers in Room 310 of Chemnitz Town Hall on Tuesday , 6 May at 2 p.m., whose educational institution Villa de Agüimes on Gran Canaria is carrying out an exchange of trainees in the EU "Leonardo da Vinci" programme with the Chemnitz-based F + U Gemeinnützige Bildungseinrichtung für Fortbildung und Umschulung Sachsen GmbH. Before the 21 Spanish trainees from the catering and geriatric care sectors travel to Chemnitz for their internships, the teaching staff want to get an overview of the city and the internship companies. The Spanish guests will also be informed by F+U Sachsen gGmbH about the dual education system in Germany, while other youth and education projects with EU funding and information about the city will be discussed at the meeting in the town hall.
