"Europe was a woman" - Europe festival for women
Invitation to Europe Day: on 9 May, from 4 pm, Lila Villa Women's Centre
On Tuesday, 9 May, from 4 p.m., interested parties are invited to the Europe Festival for Women under the motto "Europe was a woman" at the Lila Villa Women's Centre, Kaßbergstraße 22.
Europe seen from a completely different angle: Who was this ancient Europe, this figure from Greek mythology to whom our continent owes its name? this story will be told on Europe Day. Cabaret artist Ellen Schaller will also share her views on the subject of women. A supporting programme with music, culinary delights and other surprises will round off the afternoon and continue into the evening.
Weather permitting, the event will take place in the garden of the Women's Centre.
Admission is free, but there will be a small charge for food and drinks.
Representatives of the media are also cordially invited.
The Europe Festival for Women is jointly organised by the Equal Opportunities Officer Pia Hamann, the EU Coordinator Pia Sachs, the Migration Officer Etelka Kobuß and the Director of the Lila Villa Women's Centre, Ilona Seifert.
The Europe Weeks 2023 will take place from 30 April to 31 May. The highlight is Europe Day on 9 May. This day is considered the founding day of the European Union.
On 9 May 1950, French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman proposed the establishment of a European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC). This new form of political co-operation in Europe was to make wars between the nations of Europe unthinkable. Since then, 9 May has been celebrated as Europe Day for peace and unity in Europe.
