Euba dam: access to the site and swimming still prohibited

Dam is currently being drained in a controlled manner for repairs

The Euba dam is currently being completely drained in order to repair the bottom outlet. Last week, this could not be opened as planned when trying to lower the water level after the flood. In this context, the city of Chemnitz would like to point out once again that entering the dam area and bathing is prohibited for safety reasons. In the past few days, bathers have been observed and there have also been attempts to prevent draining. Violations of the ban will therefore be punished with immediate effect as trespassing and thus as a criminal offence.

Entry to the site is still prohibited

The use of the water surface of the Euba dam for bathing, swimming, fishing and the use of watercraft of any kind by unauthorised third parties is not permitted!

It is also forbidden to enter the dam wall and the operating facilities, in particular the facades, fences, walls, barriers, sliding devices, platforms of all kinds and to climb on or over roofs and towers.

Throwing objects of any kind, lighting fires, labelling, painting and sticking things on structures and facilities as well as paths and littering by throwing things away. Unauthorised persons on the premises of the Euba Dam are liable for all damage that the City of Chemnitz may incur as a result of the prohibited use or action.
