EU school programme for fruit, vegetables and milk
24 daycare centres and schools in Chemnitz will benefit in the coming school year
A total of 24 institutions in Chemnitz will take part in the upcoming 2023/24 school year in the
EU school programme for fruit, vegetables and milk. Specifically, four day-care centres and 20 primary and special schools have been approved by the Saxon State Office for the Environment, Agriculture and Geology.

All facilities that have applied and have not been selected will remain on a waiting list. Should funds become available at a later date, further institutions may be admitted according to the order of random selection.
Since 1 August 2017, the city of Chemnitz has been participating in the EU school programme for fruit, vegetables and milk. The aim of the EU school programme is to increase the consumption and acceptance of fruit, vegetables and milk among children by regularly offering them in Saxon nurseries and kindergartens as well as primary and special schools. The aim is to make healthy eating appealing to children with a free extra portion of fruit, vegetables and milk. Accompanying educational measures such as farm visits or themed project days are also intended to promote knowledge about the products and their origin as well as the children's skills in handling the products.
