For the new school year 2018/2019, 26 institutions in the city of Chemnitz have currently been approved for the new EU school programme for fruit, vegetables and milk by the Saxon State Office for the Environment, Agriculture and Geology. A total of nine daycare centres are participating in the milk part of the programme and a total of 17 primary and special schools in the city of Chemnitz are participating in the fruit/vegetable part of the programme.
The funds to finance the programme are provided by the European Union and the Free State of Saxony. Admission to the programme took place in the order in which applications were received. All organisations that have applied and have not yet been considered will remain on a waiting list. If funds are released at a later date, these institutions may also be admitted to the programme.
Since 1 August 2017, the city of Chemnitz has been participating in the new EU school programme for fruit, vegetables and milk. This programme offers the opportunity to offer children in Chemnitz nurseries as well as primary and special schools an extra portion of fruit, vegetables and milk free of charge.
