EU project supports immigrant skilled workers on their way into the labour market
Visit to the town hall to familiarise yourself with your new surroundings
On 14 February 2017 at 10 a.m., eleven immigrant academics will be visiting Chemnitz City Hall. The City of Chemnitz's EU Coordinator, Pia Sachs, will welcome the migrants from Pakistan, Syria, Hungary, Georgia, Russia, Libya, Iraq and India in the town hall's Green Parlour.
They include business scientists, mathematicians, food, environmental, mechanical and electrical engineers - some of whom are already working part-time or full-time. They are accompanied by the educational director of PROFIL Bildungs-gesellschaft mbH, Anja Herrmann.
In the "Bridge for Academics in Chemnitz" project, PROFIL Bildungsgesellschaft mbH organises specialist training and job-related language training specifically for migrants who have obtained an academic degree abroad. Labour market coaching forms the bridge to the labour market. The project is funded by the European Social Fund and the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs.
The EU coordinator will first introduce the participants to Chemnitz and the city's European work before they are given further information on Chemnitz's history on the subsequent tour of the town hall.
