EU Parliament President Martin Schulz visits the Brühl office
Exchange of experience on urban development and urban development funding
Next Wednesday, 28 August, Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, will be a guest at the Brühlbüro (Brühl-Boulevard/corner of Untere Aktienstraße 12) from 3.30 pm to 5 pm. He will be joined by representatives of the City of Chemnitz, the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior and various stakeholders and partners involved in neighbourhood and urban development in Chemnitz.
The open discussion will be moderated by Thomas Bleier, Managing Director of STEG Stadtentwicklung GmbH (representative for the Brühl SOP area). In addition to Martin Schulz, participants in the discussion will include Michael Köppl, Head of the Urban Development and EU Funding Department of the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior, Brühl manager Urs Luczak, the city's neighbourhood managers and representatives of the City of Chemnitz's urban planning office.
The discussion focused on future urban development funding at national and European level, the new ERDF/ESF funding period 2014-2020, the partnership between municipal, private sector and service-oriented players in urban development and the reduction of bureaucracy in urban development funding. Using the example of Brühl and other neighbourhoods in Chemnitz, individual experiences in subsidised urban and neighbourhood development will also be discussed.
