EU officials visit Sonnenberg
Invitation for media representatives to a welcome and tour on 28 August
The city of Chemnitz will receive a European visitor on Tuesday, 28 August: 19 EU officials want to find out about EU-funded projects on the Sonnenberg and elsewhere. The participants come from Estonia, France, Ireland, Croatia, Turkey, Lithuania, Romania, Serbia and Hungary.
They will first visit the SITEC company on this day. At 4.15 p.m., they will be welcomed by Börries Butenop, Head of the City Planning Office, at Chemnitz Town Hall. The delegation will then travel to Sonnenberg to take a look at specific projects.
The tour will begin at around 4.30 p.m. at St. Mark's Church, Pestalozzistrasse 1, and will include the Window into Earth's History, the community centre in Sonnenstrasse, the southern Sonnenberg model project, the Tschaikowskistraße daycare centre, the Colourful Gardens and the Zietenstrasse Conserved Urban Quarter.
Media representatives will have the opportunity to attend the welcome at the town hall and the tour of Sonnenberg.
The group includes officials from the European External Action Service and the European Court of Auditors. They are taking part in a German language course in the Free State of Saxony from 20 to 31 August and are taking the opportunity to see practical examples of EU funding, business and urban development on site.
