EU officials visit Chemnitz

On Thursday, 8 November at 1.30 pm, the EU Coordinator of the City of Chemnitz, Pia Sachs, will receive 25 senior officials from EU institutions as well as senior ministerial officials from EU member states and candidate countries. After a short tour of the City Hall, the guests are presented with Chemnitz projects that have been financed with European Union funding. In addition, a member of staff from the Capital of Culture Office will provide information about the application to become Capital of Culture 2025, and these projects will also be inspected on site during the final tour of the city.

The representatives from Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Croatia, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, the Czech Republic, Turkey and the United Kingdom are in Dresden for a one-week German language course organised by the Goethe-Institut. They are particularly looking forward to the excursion to Chemnitz organised by the Saxon State Chancellery as part of the course. In the morning, the language course participants will start at the smac - State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz and learn about the project "So smart. Saxony and Bohemia - a virtual exhibition for the European Year of Cultural Heritage". Afterwards, the Cluster of Excellence MERGE, which pursues the vision of resource-efficient production of lightweight structures with high performance and functional density, will present itself on the campus of Chemnitz University of Technology.
