Environmental survey 2021

Participation still possible until 23 July

Since April, the City of Chemnitz has been conducting a survey asking citizens for their personal opinion on selected environmental issues in Chemnitz. These include questions on green spaces and bodies of water, nature conservation, environmental education, climate change and renewable energies. Healthy living conditions and the well-being of the people of Chemnitz are top priorities and are shaped by our environment.

Anyone can take part at www.chemnitz.de/umweltumfrage until 23 July.

This will take about 15 minutes. The information will of course be treated confidentially and analysed anonymously. It will not be possible to link the answers to a specific person.

Parallel to this freely accessible survey, 5,000 citizens aged 18 and over were randomly selected from the population register for a representative survey. They take part in the survey via a different link and a personal access code or use a printed questionnaire. Both surveys contain the same questions.

Initial evaluation results will be published on www.chemnitz.de in autumn 2021.

The City of Chemnitz will use the results to assess the success of previous measures, but will also derive specific goals for the various topics. For example, the city is currently developing the Urban Nature Masterplan as an overarching concept for safeguarding and developing green (parks, green spaces, gardens, etc.) and blue (rivers, streams, ponds) infrastructure. The integrated climate protection programme is also being updated. The survey results will be incorporated into this and other plans.

To ensure that the survey is meaningful, it is important that all age groups and all neighbourhoods take part. The environmental survey should also offer young people and all interested parties the opportunity to participate in these issues in their city.
