Heiner Großer, Chairman of the Chemnitz City Fire Brigade Association and member of the Stelzendorf volunteer fire brigade, was honoured with an entry in the City of Chemnitz's Golden Book on 29 November 2018 as part of the ceremonial awards for deserving members of the fire service.

Mayor Sven Schulze honoured his services: "Heiner Großer has worked tirelessly over the past 28 years as honorary chairman for the interests of the Chemnitz fire service and in particular for the volunteer fire brigades. This special honour is intended to show how much his commitment is appreciated."

Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "I feel a special need to honour a deserving personality like Heiner Großer with an entry in the Golden Book. His entry is representative of all comrades in the Chemnitz fire brigade."

Heiner Großer joined the volunteer fire service in 1959. He was active in the Stelzendorf volunteer fire brigade as a squad leader and deputy fire brigade leader until his transfer to the retirement and honour department in 2004. In 1990, Heiner Großer was elected Chairman of the Chemnitz City Fire Brigade Association (SFV) when it was founded. In this role, he is still responsible for representing the interests of the volunteer fire brigades in the city of Chemnitz.
