Entrepreneurs on the Sonnenberg and in the Reitbahn district can still apply for funding
Funding for small businesses by the City of Chemnitz and the EU has been extended for the Sonnenberg and Reitbahnviertel development areas
The European Union uses the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to support urban development measures that create stable infrastructural conditions for future generations. The aim of the funding is to achieve social and economic stabilisation in the assisted areas. The city of Chemnitz has been using ERDF funding to support the Reitbahnviertel and Sonnenberg neighbourhoods since 2009. In the "Sustainable Urban Development" programme, small companies in both programme areas are successfully supported with grants on the basis of a funding guideline if they wish to invest in buildings and equipment at the location or relocate. Special support is also provided for the creation of jobs and training places.
The demand for the funding is increasing and the remaining period until the results are settled with the EU is coming to an end. The City of Chemnitz is therefore pleased that the implementation period for such funding for small companies has now been extended until 30 June 2013. At the same time, the funds in the Reitbahn district have also been increased by 30,000 euros. This means that sufficient funds are still available for entrepreneurs, particularly in the Reitbahnviertel. Funds are also still available in the Sonnenberg development area. The following maximum grants are possible depending on the investment volume: - Investments up to 25,000 euros = maximum funding rate of 40 per cent. - Investment share from 25,000 euros = max. funding rate 20 per cent. The maximum grant per applicant is 15,000 euros. With the help of the subsidy, it has so far been possible to support 24 measures by small companies on the Sonnenberg with a total investment of 734,000 euros and a total subsidy of 242,000 euros. In the Reitbahn district, 11 companies received funding totalling 70,000 euros and invested a total of 246,000 euros. As the implementation period ends on 30 June 2013, applications should be submitted to Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (CWE) by the end of March at the latest.
