Emergency aid for flood victims is paid out - municipal swimming pool remains closed until the end of August

The city of Chemnitz has been paying out emergency aid for flood victims since Thursday. By midday on Monday, 93 applications had been received in the customer portal of the social welfare office in Moritzhof, and aid has already been authorised for payment in 64 cases. This amounts to a total of 61,700 euros, which will be used to quickly repair the damage. The aim of the emergency aid is to provide fast and appropriate financial assistance to affected citizens. A one-off payment of 400 euros per affected adult and 250 euros per affected minor child will be made. The payment is limited to 2,000 euros per household.
In addition, the standardised public authority telephone number D 115 will continue to support the coordination of volunteers and flood victims who need help this week. The most urgent need is still for help with cleaning up: equipment for drying cellars, equipment for rinsing out and cleaning contaminated buildings and surfaces is being sought. We have also received urgent requests for help from tradesmen or electricians. Interested parties should call D 115.
The municipal swimming pool must remain closed until the summer break. This was the result of the damage survey at the end of the week. Almost all technical systems have been affected by the flooding of the Chemnitz. The measurement and control technology that controls all the systems is no longer functional. The heat supply had to be switched off and the technical systems were dismantled for overhaul. The entire electrical systems have to be checked for functionality.
The municipal swimming pool will therefore probably not be able to reopen until after the summer break and will remain closed until 25 August. The "Am Südring" indoor swimming pool will be available as a replacement and will be open from 10 June to 7 July:

The controlled draining of the Euba dam continued at the weekend. The goal of lowering the water level at the dam to around seven metres is expected to be achieved on Tuesday. The dam and the discharge will continue to be checked three times a day.
Some roads and bridges are still closed due to flood damage:
- Chemnitz Valley cycle path (between Lohrstraße and Dammweg and between Fischweg and Heinersdorfer Straße), due to undercutting
- Feudelstraße (due to landslide)
- Pedestrian bridge Schulstraße
- Pedestrian bridge between Talsperrengrund and Einsiedler Hauptstraße
- Pedestrian bridge Erfenschlager Straße (at HNr. 179)
- Glösaer Straße (near the transformer station), further soaking in the road area
- Court steps (due to heavy soaking)
- Heinersdorfer Straße (near the sewage treatment plant)
- Inselsteig (bridge, gas damage)
- Kauffahrtei (between Heinrich-Lorenz-Straße and Scheffelstraße)
- Querweg (Wittgensdorf) -> closed by the building yard
- Eubaer Straße cycle path, at the Euba dam, due to water drainage from the dam
- Access to Einsiedler Hauptstraße HNr.1 via Kurt-Franke-Straße
