Eleven Chemnitz winners of the "Jugend musiziert" music competition honoured by the Lord Mayor
Mayor Barbara Ludwig today received nine of the eleven successful Chemnitz prizewinners of the "Jugend musiziert" competition and their music teachers in the Marble Hall of Chemnitz City Hall.
Four pupils from Chemnitz Municipal Music School represented their home city musically at this year's 53rd national "Jugend musiziert" competition in Kassel from 12 to 19 May 2016.
Clara Dietze won second prize in the cello solo category with 22 points. Lydia Stettinius played in the violin solo category. With 17 points, she received the rating "participated with very good success". Kevin Rau and Julia Hajduczek achieved a 3rd prize in the guitar duo category with 21 points.
The eleven pupils from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School have already won first prize in the state competition "Jugend musiziert". Five of the winners of the state competition were too young to take part in the national competition. Lara and Charlotte Starec, guitar duo, and Clara Böttger, Finn Thomschke and Antonia Winger, piano trio, were awarded first prize in the state competition.
Charlotte and Jakob Kuhn also won first prizes in the "Jugend jazzt" state competition. This competition only takes place at state level.
The "Jugend musiziert" state competition took place in Hoyerswerda from 11 to 20 March 2016. 440 children and young people in 283 categories competed against over 60 judges from all over Germany on a total of six judging days.
The eleven young musicians from Chemnitz Municipal Music School are supervised by music teachers Caren Raßbach-Dietze (violin), Romy Richter (cello), Ulrike Gruner-Zaunick (piano), Aleksander Hajduczek (guitar), Henrik Lehmann (jazz), Kerstin Randall (vocals) and Mike Thieme (drums).
