Election notifications are sent out

By Saturday, 10 August at the latest, every eligible voter will receive their voter's notification for the state election on 1 September 2024 by post.

This letter will inform all citizens who are entered in a voters' register about this entry and their existing right to vote. The notification also shows in which polling station you can exercise your right to vote on election Sunday. It also states whether the polling station is accessible or not. It also contains the number of the electoral district to which the voters are assigned and the number under which they are listed in the electoral roll for the electoral district.

Each person entitled to vote also receives an application for a polling card (back of the notification) with the election notification. This can be used if you intend to cast your vote by post before election day. Alternatively, the online application for a polling card on the Internet at www.chemnitz.de/briefwahl can also be used for this purpose.

Following the application, the eligible voters concerned will then receive a ballot paper and the postal voting documents sent to their home or to an address specified by them. It is important that the complete postal ballot letter is received by the City of Chemnitz postal voting office by 4 p.m. on 1 September 2024 at the latest. It is also possible to drop the election letter in the deadline letterbox at Moritzhof.

A polling card also entitles voters to go to another polling station within the constituency to cast their vote on 1 September 2024. This could be relevant, for example, if the polling station assigned to eligible voters is not barrier-free but they would like to go to a barrier-free polling station.

All eligible voters can obtain information on accessible polling stations in Chemnitz by calling the telephone number printed on the polling card. In addition, an overview of accessible polling stations is available at www.chemnitz.de/landtagswahl. Please note, however, that a polling card is only valid within the constituency for which it was issued.

Another way to vote before election day is to vote immediately at the postal voting centre in BVZ I-Moritzhof, Bahnhofstraße 53. This will be open from Monday 12 August at the following times: Mondays and Wednesdays from 8.30 am to 4 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8.30 am to 6 pm and Fridays from 8.30 am to 12 pm. The exception is Friday 30 August, when it is open from 8.30 am to 4 pm. The opening hours can also be found on the polling card.

It is essential that you bring your polling card application (back of the polling card) and your identity card or passport with you. In the case of instant voting, voters also receive the polling card and postal voting documents and can use these documents to vote immediately on site.

Further information can be found on the polling card and at www.chemnitz.de/landtagswahl.
