Einsiedler Hauptstraße construction project decided
At its meeting today, the city council decided to renew the Einsiedler Hauptstraße in the section between Einsiedler Neue Straße and the end of the town and to provide additional funds totalling 1.1 million euros for this purpose.
In addition to the necessary road construction, the pavements will be renewed and the drainage systems repaired. The measure is necessary as the road surface of the carriageways shows considerable damage. Potholes and longitudinal, transverse and network cracks have formed due to loss of substance. Damage to kerbstones also jeopardises road safety. The pavements are in a similarly damaged condition. Unevenness and repaired areas jeopardise the safety of pedestrians. In some areas, the pavements are also unpaved. The roadside ditch is also partially overgrown and silted up and is no longer at the required height. As a result, rainwater can no longer drain away.
As part of the construction work, the "Einsiedel Brauerei" bus stop will be remodelled to make it barrier-free. To this end, the bus stop will be raised and fitted with a special kerb that will allow buses to stop directly at the stop. The waiting area will also be raised and equipped with a tactile guidance system to help blind and visually impaired people find their way around. The road drains will also be renewed to improve the drainage of rainwater.
The entire construction project will take around two months and will be carried out in three phases.
The respective road sections will be fully closed during the construction work. Traffic will be diverted via the Chemnitzer Südring, the B 174 to Gornau and the B 180 to Dittersdorf.
