Egmont Elschner entered in the city's Golden Book
Egmont Elschner signed the city's Golden Book this evening. The honour, which came as a surprise to him, was bestowed by Mayor Barbara Ludwig at the opening ceremony of the Days of Jewish Culture in the Schauspielhaus.
The city of Chemnitz honoured Egmont Elschner for his outstanding work in the service of Chemnitz culture. His commitment as a tireless ambassador, campaigner and bridge builder as well as his passionate personal dedication are honoured.
Elschner is still the chairman of the association that organises the Days of Jewish Culture in Chemnitz. He has been a member of the steering group and co-founder of the Circle of Friends from the very beginning of the bid for the title of European Capital of Culture. Elschner is Chairman of the Cultural Advisory Board, to which he first belonged as an expert in 1995. He has also been active on other committees for many years.
