Economic report 2023/24 published

The City of Chemnitz's Economic Affairs Division has published its second economic report. This provides an overview of strategic topics, current developments and projects as well as the work of the Business Division for the period from 1 July 2023 to 31 December 2024. It is available as a printed copy from the Business Division and can be downloaded at www.chemnitz.de/broschueren.

In the 18 months mentioned, the business division has worked closely with Chemnitz's business community, chambers and associations. It has succeeded in expanding new networks and location marketing as well as intensifying international economic relations with the twin cities in particular.

The company's own projects, such as the career guidance initiatives in the area of skilled labour and education, were further developed. The Business division was involved in the implementation of the Welcome Centre, which makes an important contribution to the integration of international skilled workers and the welcoming culture in Chemnitz. In addition, Lord Mayor Sven Schulze and the Business division launched the Chemnitz Region Hydrogen Alliance at the beginning of 2024 to establish the region as a pioneer for a sustainable hydrogen economy.

Despite national and international challenges, the course was set for positive development and sustainable growth in the city. The economic development department has driven forward the acquisition of companies from various sectors, specifically targeting hotels, catering businesses and retail chains.
