Easter egg hunt and guided tours of the game reserve
Tierpark Chemnitz: New animal species moves into the tropical house
On Easter Sunday, 9 April at 10 a.m., all children are invited to the traditional Easter egg hunt in the game enclosure - for the first time after a three-year break.
Please note: The game reserve will not open until 10 a.m. on this day so that the Easter bunny can hide the eggs unseen beforehand.
Guided tours during the Easter holidays
During the Easter holidays, the game enclosure will once again offer guided tours with commentary at 11 a.m. at the respective enclosure:

New species in the tropical house
A new species has moved into the tropical house at Chemnitz Zoo: a pair of black-backed agoutis. They live in a flat share with the two-fingered sloth. The previous flatmates, the capybaras, were discontinued some time ago because the animals could not be provided with optimal living conditions.
Agutis are rodents that live in forests, scrubland and savannahs in Central and South America. They live on the ground and feed on plants, especially fruits, green parts of plants and roots.
You have to take a closer look, as agoutis are smaller than capybaras and the enclosure is well structured to provide the animals with sufficient hiding places. Nevertheless, the animals are usually easy to observe.
